Our story
Apotheke zum Papst was founded in 1777, making it one of the oldest pharmacies in what is now the Vienna suburbs. Since 1864, it has been located at Neulerchenfelder Straße 4, where pharmacist Karl Menzel had the current pharmacy building constructed. A street in Ottakring is named in his honor. For many decades, the pharmacy was run as a family business and continuously developed over time.
After the handover to Mag. pharm. Elisabeth Bauer-Soos, Mag. Brigitte Glantschnig took over the license in 2022. Since 2024, Mag. Philipp Glantschnig has joined the management team as Managing Director.
In 2025, the pharmacy underwent extensive modernization. Since then, this traditional location has presented itself in a new look, with contemporary infrastructure, improved spatial design, and a 24/7 dispensing machine to ensure continuous supply.
The pharmacy is a member of the Rat & Tat pharmacy group, has been ISO 9001 certified since 2008, and is actively involved in training young professionals as an apprenticeship provider. Thanks to the linguistic diversity of the team, customers from across the district can be supported in the best possible way.
