L-arginine is a conditionally essential basic amino acid (vital for infants, in cases of chronic kidney failure, and in sepsis). L-arginine is the most important nitrogen donor (the nitrogen-rich amino acid) and can be synthesized in the body from glutamine, glutamate, and proline.
